Accessible environmental
monitoring

Starting with water. Built around portable, AI smartphone-based optical screening.

EcoExposure™ brings microplastic and nanoplastic screening closer to the sample—from drinking water and rivers to coastal waters and oceans.

Building on this foundation, we are developing a common capture layer to support a broader range of environmental monitoring applications.

The field work on our microplastic and nanoplastic assay, plus conversations about real-world monitoring, led us to build a simple capture layer for wider environmental monitoring.

Inside the app, you can capture photos, notes, voice recordings, and instrument readings in one place — then turn them into structured data.

1. Collect a water sample.

Collect a sample from a tap, river, lake, ocean, or other water source using the included sampling beaker.

EcoExposure is designed to work with real-world water environmental samples, anywhere (homes to rivers to oceans) allowing testing outside traditional laboratories.

Learn more about how unique it is that EcoExposure functions in salt water where most methods fail.

EcoExposure can be used anywhere from your sink at home to on a boat in the middle of the ocean (in saltwater).  It's simple to use for anyone, no training required.

2. Add the biodegradable Reagent and wait.

Add the EcoExposure test packet to your sample. The proprietary reagents interact with particles and contaminants, revealing signals that are normally invisible in water.

This step allows microplastics/nanoplastics and other environmental indicators to become detectable.

Learn how the reagent was prioritized and selected from bench experiments.

3. Take a Photo with your Smartphone.

The system uses optical analysis, AI and computer vision tools to interpret environmental signals and help identify potential contaminants.

Our founder and CEO, Dr. Melinda B. Chu, M.D., M.B.A., invented and developed the EcoExposure™ platform to make microplastic and nanoplastic monitoring more accessible in the field.

In 2026, Dr. Chu had two presentations accepted at World Water Week in Stockholm, where she presented EcoExposure™ and its applications for real-world environmental monitoring. World Water Week is recognized by the United Nations as a key global milestone on the road to the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi.
